"The Beat Girl" has been representative of ska, ska subculture, and women in ska since 1979. I have always loved The Beat Girl, and wanted to give her an updated look that was more representative of the woman who inspired her original design.

Looking for reference images of Brigitte Bond made me wonder why we did not know more about the woman who inspired the icon, and I wound up spending months researching her and making a documentary about her life. And I finally got around to making this art, too!

While still maintaining the 2-tone aesthetic, I made this design more representative of Brigitte with a mini-mini skirt, her signature hair bow, and sassy Mod Girl flip hairdo. I hope this updated design will help facilitate conversations about the amazing woman who inspired the icon. ❤️
